Göçmen, Sığınmacı ve Uzman Yabancı Çalışanlar Üzerine Yapılan Akademik Çalışmaların Bibliyometrik Analizi (1975-2025)

This study analyzes publication trends on “foreign workers,” a subject gaining importance with increasing global labor mobility, through bibliometric methods. The term covers migrant laborers, refugees, irregular migrants, and highly skilled expatriates to provide a comprehensive view of their scientific representations. A total of 2,501 publications from 1975 to 2025 were retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) database using the keywords “foreign workers,” “migrant labor,” “refugee labor,” and “expatriate employment.” VOSviewer 1.6.19 was used to visualize citation networks, keyword co-occurrences, country collaborations, and author clusters. The results show that publications are concentrated in sociology, employment, health, and education, mostly produced by scholars in developed countries. These findings have shown that foreign labor is not adequately represented in the literature in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).The concept of “foreign workers” brings together different perspectives on migrant labor, while specific subtopics such as refugee labor appear to be underrepresented.
